SMPortal Port Change

Hi all,

When I first installed the SMPortal I selected all the defaults. I now want to change the ports around where the WebContent would be on port 444 and the SM Portal would be on 443. What's the right procedure to change this? I tried changing the bindings and received a wfc error so I changed it back. What other steps do I need to take? Thanks in advance!!

As I recall you also need to change the URL in sharepoint and perhaps some alternative access binding etc. I think it would be fastest to reinstall smportal with the ports you want to ensure it's all correct.

Hi,

what error are you getting exactly?
You should first move the WebContent to a different port and then try to change the bindings of the SM Portal.

Just an example from:

How to Configure the Default IIS Website Port
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh524275.aspx

"When you installed Internet Information Services (IIS), the default website was configured to use port 80. The SharePoint Web Parts is the home page for the Self-Service Portal. If you want to install the SharePoint Web Parts on port 80, you must first move the default website in IIS to a different portfor example, port 8080and then install the SharePoint Web Parts on port 80."

Please make sure you also have the proper certificates.

Regards

Thanks guys. I'd like to change the port so when our users go to the portal the port number is not in there (https://server.domain.local:444/smport). I want them to be able to just type https://server.domain.local/smportal.

First I tried changing the bindings and then started seeing this error at the bottom of the screen when I went into our Portals site, "Cannot connect to the Service Manager portal WCF service". So I uninstall the portal using this link, http://schadda.blogspot.com/2012/07/how-to-uninstall-scsm-web-portal-from.html, and reinstalled it but the Service Manager Portal Site in IIS was not recreated and I didn't get any errors. I did get the SCSMWebContentServer just not the Service Manager Portal in IIS. So at this point I rolled it back to the snapshot I took before I started doing all this and I'm back to port 444 being the smportal.
