SFC failures after IE9 installed on 2008 x64 SP2
We use sfc regularly to ensure that system files are not corrupt or have been tampered with. After installing IE9 on a 2008 x64 SP2 server, we started receiving the following message every time sfc /scannow is run:
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log
Upon further investigation, it appears that SFC is continuously swapping out the older versions of inetres.admx and inetres.adml.

I confirmed this behaviour on another 2008 x64 SP2 system. Is there a way to correct the cache SFC uses so that it is properly detecting and using IE9 files?Jeff Graves, ORCS Web, Inc.

Hi,
I created the same lab environment, but could not reproduce the same issue.
Based on the current situation, please run SFC /Scannow in Safe Mode to check the result.
If the issue persists in Safe Mode, I would like to suggest you uninstall IE9, IE8 and revert back to IE7. Then install IE9 directly to check the result.
I have posted the test result below:

Thanks Arthur. I tried running sfc in safe mode a few times and got them same results. I then removed IE9 and IE8 from the system (reboots required for each) and upgraded straight from IE7 to IE9. Afterwards, I stopped getting the sfc error. This
seems to be a bug in upgrading from IE7 to IE8 to IE9. Any chance it will be patched?Jeff Graves, ORCS Web, Inc.
