It's not possible to upgrade a SCSM 2012 eval environment to SCSM 2012 full version.

thanks for the reply
So in this case what could be the best possible way to reinstall SCSM 2012 and retain existing workflows, management pack and all customisations

Export the management packs from the existing environment is the only option you have ... if you don't have any exports of the management packs available anymore.

i observe you giving this same heart attack to other users also(http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/systemcenterservicemanager/thread/a77d36a5-e910-402a-a39f-e6edde480149).
Can you kindly let us know, why particulary in Service Manager, is this
special functionality kept in place ?
If it were clearly mentioned on teh article the same one liner you have above would save a lot of trouble to all others.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh495604.aspx
Need to restart from zero is also implicit !. All other System Center products (2010/2012) all require that activation can be done any later point in time by installing the product key.
For us there was no intimation dialog box or anything that product is to expire, naturally we started off by evaluation and recevied product keys later. and would leave us not able to open the console by any means just to backup anything even.

Sorry this may be a bit late, but I found this forum posting that may help. The author gives a powershell command that you can try to change your key. IDK what the differences are in the trail and full versions (if there is one), but it's worth giving it
a shot before you reinstall.

Thank you for your effort.
I want to ask;
What if we upgrade to scsm-sp1 and in the setup wizard we entered the product key, is this can convert the scsm from evaluation to full?
Best Regards

I haven't tried this. But I doubt that this will work.

Many Thanks for your reply.
I got this below. Kindly Check.
"For SCSM there is no conversion from EVAL to Licensed version, that is to say, there is no place to enter the Product Key. We have to reinstall the environment with new SM database.
The only time to insert the product key is if we were using pre-release version i.e. Beta or RC bits of SM and then was upgrading to RTM bits. At the time of the upgrade we will be presented the option to enter the
product key. If we didnt provide the key either that time or on clean install then we cannot convert it into licensed version." -

Hello every body
I want to share with you my experience with this issue.
The steps that I did to fix the issue are below:
Note: this procedures will be doable if your SCSM not SP1
1-
Unregister the SCSM DW server
2-
Upgrade the SQL Server to R2 SP2 (if not)
3-
Install Update Rollup 2 for System Center 2012 Service Manager (KB2719827) on SCSM Server
(Prerequisite)
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30410
4-
Install SQL Server 2012 Analysis Management Objects on SCSM Server
(Prerequisite)
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29065
5-
Disable the Windows Time Service on SCSM Server and change the ate to earlier date like two or three month ago
6-
Run SCSM SP1 upgrade wizard and in the wizard type the Product Key the place
7-
Finish the upgrade process
8-
Enable Windows Time service and revert back the date to the current date
Till this step the SCSM Management Server is functional properly.
Good Luck and Best Regards

The only way you can update your license is with this software SCSMChangeProductKey.zip you can download from https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9DOC059xKJgcXBXV3lRRnp6ZW8/edit?usp=sharing , this was provided by Microsoft when i opened a ticket for
this issue, I don't know why they didn't publish this tool.
Syntax: SCSMChangeProductKey.exe -productkey -dbuser -dbPassword

they don't publish the tool because changing the product key in System Center is unsupported, and should only be done under the supervision of PSS, as they undoubtedly told you when you received the tool.

This tool worked for me. Thank you

Anyone used this tool successfully in recent times with 2012 R2? I really don't want to rebuild and when I try to run the tool it says I have to run as an administrator. And yes, I am running as administrator. Both Domain and/or local give
same error... Microsoft is really sucking on this one as far as I am concerned...

Have you considered calling PSS? this tool ISN'T supported unless you're running it under their supervision, and whatever version that was leaked probably wasn't tested for R2. PSS will have the latest version, and they can walk you through whatever issues
you might run into as part of it's use.

Once again, i have to point out that this tool is a leaked version that isn't supported. "confirming" it works for you is not really helpful, as it's only going to encourage people to go down a dark and dangerous path because "i made it through
without serious injuries, it must be safe"
pilots sometimes survive high speed breakups, that doesn't mean the FAA should encourage people to use jets that come apart at the seams.
