Hi,

check that all Requirements of Ops Mgr Web Console are alrady installed , refer at this link it contains the list of all requirements of the web console : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh205990.aspx#BKMK_RBF_WebConsole  , also if you can check    the Ops Mgr log file if there's  an error related to this issue .

Hi,

can you check the "WebConsole.log" which is located  by default  for a default installation of Ops Mgr 2012  on Windows 2008 R2 in "c:\users\<UserName>\Appdata\Local\SCOM\Logs" , also if you can restart your server and try to open the webconsole again.

Hi Sam_33 and Yoke88-

That notice about your web browser needing configuration means that your SilverLight needs to be updated with a special update used by SCOM 2012 web console. Try manually installing the update on the computer where your browser is running.

The file is located on the SCOM 2012 web console server here:

C:\Program Files\System Center 2012\Operations Manager\WebConsole\WebHost\ClientBin\silverlightclientconfiguratio

and the one i download from the "web console configuration required " page  ,file version was 7.0.8560.2 (it does not works when ru

I tried to run the exe file from C:\Program Files\System Center 2012\Operations Manager\WebConsole\WebHost\ClientBin\silverlightclientconfiguration.exe  but the error message show "The procedure entry point localeNameTolCID could not be located in the dynamic link library kernel32.dll". I use web broswer window XP to access scom 2012 web console. My IE version is IE 8

I have the exact same problem. XP SP3 and IE 8. I run silverlightclientconfiguration.exe maanually and frm the site but get the same Kernel32.dll error. Is there another version of the installer that will work?

We have the same issue when trying to run silverlightclientconfiguration.exe (7.0.8560.1021) on our Citrix servers. (Windows 2003 EE, x86, IE8)

This is keeping us from taking SCOM 2012 in production as we need to publish the web console to our key users.

I was wondering if those having issues were using non-English versions of SCOM?

Guido, if you that can neither download and run the Silverlight configuration utility automatically via your browser (as designed), nor manually run the utility from the web console server's file system (workaround for some)--I recommend you open a case with Microsoft PSS since this is a blocker for you. Please share any progress since a few people have this issue.

I have the English version as well, I have now tried it with several diffrent hardware and other configuratios and still get the error. Is there anything else I could do or a diffrent version out there? Or is this simply not supported? Seems like it should be, this is all Mircosoft software, I little old but it should still work right?

I have lanched Procmon to monitor what silverlightclientconfiguration.exe  has done. I found some regestry hack to resolve such a problem instead using silverlightclientconfiguration.exe, this hack works on my windows xp3 CN with ie8 box

copy and paste such regestry code to a txt file and rename it to a reg File ,then import it.

comment: the reg file has [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Silverlight]  (for x64 box) and [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Silverlight] (for x86 box) , But i Put it togather, you can seperate it to a X64 and x86 reg file.

and if you want to increase the experence of users ,you can use winrar to create a selft install file (exe file) and replace the file on your scom web console server.

The silverlightclientconfiguration.exe stays here:

 C:\Program Files\System Center 2012\Operations Manager\WebConsole\WebHost\ClientBin\silverlightclientconfiguration.exe

sorry for my poor english ,wish you can see it

That looks great But I'm in a high security enviroment so directly modifying certificate info is out. Even though I imagine this is what the .EXE does if it is not in a trusted exe from a trusted source I'll never get it to the production system.

What is it that causes silverlightclientconfiguration.exe to fail? Seems like there should be a patch or a simpleer Reg hack that should get it to work. I'll keep researching and post what I find but A better explanation of if this is a bug or simply not supported would help. Anyone have any luck using a diffrent means to get this to run?

oki some normal solution without modify registry ?

Did another search and found this:

http://blogs.technet.com/b/mihai/archive/2012/05/08/making-the-om-2012-web-console-accessible-from-a-windows-xp-client.aspx

This is the same as the above solution but the cert is a file, not a reg hack. Might work for my environment, maybe it will work for others.

Is XP REALLY not supported with this? I understand concentrating on new products but XP is still common especially in high security environments where it can that forever to adopt new platforms. Also, the web console is a fundamental part of Operations Manager, why cripple it?

I hope we can get a better fix for this or at least a explanation of why this is.

Thank you John

I have encounterd the same problem, and resolved it according your guide,
manually run C:\Program Files\System Center 2012\Operations Manager\WebConsole\WebHost\ClientBin\silverlightclientconfiguration.exe.

I resolved this today. I had to uninstall Silverlight from add/remove programs and then reinstall it again.

You can download Silverlight from over the internet. My Silverlight version is 5.1.10411.0

Hope this helps you too.
