SCOM 2012 SP1 Notification Alert link Web Console Issue

When i receive SCOM email notifications , it contatins the link as well, as soon as i click on the link , it keeps loading for ever and never opens.

I can see the page showing Loading and the URL as:

http://SCOM01/OperationsManager/default.aspx#/web(url='/monitoringview/default.aspx?DisplayMode=Pivot&AlertID=%257b6e8df551-ffa8-4c3b-88b0-a9353390a645%257d')

Hi, it's problem with SCOM Web Console..first try to reinstall it ...then understand what's the issue...

in the end your web console should open by netbios name and by FQDN from MS itself and from clients that have Silverlight

Make sure that the alert is opened and not closed

I uninstalled and Re-Installed Web Console still same thing is happening.

The alert is active and when i click on the link in the notification email , it just stays on loading

Any other advice.

Hi

Take a look in the IIS logs to see if there is anything.

As a test, on the machine you are using the main console on, can you open the web console?

Then keep the web console open ... stay on any item ... just keep the web console open ..

Then go to your email and click the link ... does this now work?

Cheers

Graham

Also try updating the web console URL in the administration space (in the Operations console) to FQDN, rather than netbios name.

@Graham -- The web console does work when opened from MS or any other machine.  It only gets stuck on loading when we click on the link in the notification email.

I checked the IIS logs and found - 401 2 5 4   , 301 0 0 10 , 304 0 0 211 and mostly 200 status

I am not sure why we get those as the use faces no issue using the console , it only happens when notification link is added.

Hi,

we have the same issue with SCOM 2012 SP1. So I'm very interested in the solution.

I had Faced Similar Issue ..... for an Workaround I Un-installed the Web-console & Installed the Web-Console using Pre-SP1 setup of the Web-console only ...This worked for me....

I am not sure for the permanent Fix ..but this is surely an workaround for the alert Link.

We are facing the same issue in our environment. Updating to UR1 did not fix the problem. I opened a support case, hope to receive a solution soon.

Hi,

May I know if you customized the notification?

I'm getting this exact same issue with SCOM 2012 SP1. Seems to be a common problem with SP1. Maybe MS will release CU2 to fix the issue.

Nicholas Li can you confirm this is a bug with SP1? Im able to replicate the issue on a fresh install of SCOM 2012 SP1 with no modifications or imports of MP's on an entirely different domain.

February 2nd, 2013 3:46pm

Yes, this is definitely related to SP1. I opened a support case and Microsoft confirmed the issue (was not really complicated to reproduce, isn't it?). Anyway they are working on a fix but no information when it will be available.

Support suggested (like Jason above) to remove SP1 web console and instal the RTM web console. Not really clean but at the moment it's the only workaround. I hope the workaround will not generate more issues it actually fix.

I've also encountered the problem with SCOM 2012 SP1.
Tried to re-install the web console but the problem still exist.

Solution anyone ?

Seeing the same issue here, 2012 SP1
February 21st, 2013 6:28pm

I've been getting the same error since the SP1 upgrade.

To workaround this until MS fix it I have changed the link in the Notification Channel as follows:

http://SCOMWEBSERVER/MonitoringView/default.aspx?DisplayMode=Pivot&ViewType=AlertView&AlertID=$UrlEncodeData/Context/DataItem/AlertId$

Hope this helps.

This helped me as well. Thanks.

However i face an issue . If the Web console is not already open . When the user clicks on the link in the notification email , it gives an error:

403 - Forbidden: Access is denied.
You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied

However if the user already have the webconsole open on his pc and then clicks on the link in email it works.

I have faced so many issues with webCosole that i feel i shouldnt use it at all

MS confirmed that UR2 will fix this issue. UR2 is expected mid of April. Wait and see...
March 18th, 2013 7:38pm

I have now installed the UR2, but it has not solved the problem.

I was thinking that Issue 2, was the problem related to this.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2802159

Operations Manager (KB2826664)

Issue 1
The Web Console performance is very poor when a view is opened for the first time

Issue 2
The alert links do not open in the Web Console after Service Pack 1 is applied for Operations Manager.

UR2 did not resolve this issue for me either, still having to use the workaround method.

Installed UR2 as well, did not help. I found the same trick with hard-coding the URL to use /monitoringview/ but have the same problem as mentioned above with the 403.
May 10th, 2013 8:00pm

Turned out I had a problem whereby I couldn't access the URL via IP but I could via FQDN. Fully resetting IE settings back to default resolved the issue, thus I had a different issue that disguised the fact UR2 did actually resolve the problem.

Hi All, Beside CUR2 for SCOM 2012 SP1 - is there any other solution to this web console problem.

Please advise.
