SBS 2008 - Console Stops Responding
Hi , We recently installed a SBS 2008 in my company and have some issues. One of them is the same issue as described in this forum: http://www.jlaforums.com/viewtopic.php?p=19248686 . We do not get any reports more of the SBS server, and when I try to run it manually the console crashes. These reports worked fine for some weeks and are very useful in my opinion, thats why I would like to fix this problem. I checked the logfile as described in the forum and my error is: 1. If the error message "FATAL: Console shutting down due to unhandled exception: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation." As stated this is probably due to a problem with a hostname / DNS, I will explain. One desktop has been re-installed recently on the same hardware. Before the reinstallation I removed it from the domain and then installed it with the same computername. As I read in other forums that this could cause the console crashing (although it shouldnt!) I renamed the hostname of this re-installed PC, but this does not fix the issue neither. Can you tell me if there is already a KB Article to fix this? If not, could you send me the solution pls? Ive been looking on the web for solutions, but cant find any. In the meantime I performed and LDP search to look for duplicate hostnames, but this looks fine, there are no duplicate hostnames... Maybe somebody can help me fixing this issue so the SBS Console generates the reports again? -- Thanks for your help, Best Regards Gunther

Hi, Regarding the Windows Small Business Server issue, I suggest that you post to the Windows Small Business Server discussion group. They are the best resource to deal with SBS-related issues. For your convenience, Ive included the link of Windows Small Business Server discussion group: Discussions in Windows Small Business Server Generalhttp://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs SBS08 Public Newsgroupshttps://connect.microsoft.com/cougar/content/content.aspx?ContentID=8333 Thank you for your understanding.

Hi Joson,I posted my issuealready in http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.windows.server.sbsas you suggested, there they tell me I should go to another newsgroup as you can read below in a reply I got in that newsgroup...apparantly it is not so easy to find the correct group where people can help me....fyi, I tried the fix he suggested, it did not work.Hi Gunther,Have you tried this?http://blogs.technet.com/sbs/archive/2009/07/14/sbs-2008-console-may-take-too-long-to-display-alerts-and-security-statuses-display-not-available-or-crash.aspxAlso, the SBS08 newsgroup is at microsoft.windows.server.sbs08. While there are quite a few 08 posts here, there are some MS CSS folks in the 08 group that have answered a number of issues, and are watching for anything that might be "new".Thanks for your help,Regards Gunther
