SAN not detected after server rename
Hi everyone, We have 2 blade servers running Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise, connecting to HDS SAN using HBA. At first everything was OK, we could see our storage. Then for some reason, we rename the servers. Suddenly we can not see our SAN anymore, from both servers. We have tried disk rescanning in Disk Manager, no success. Rebooting servers also doesn't work. We check SAN config, everything is OK. HBA looks OK (no sign of driver problem). Cables all connected. We tried to change back the name to the original, still no success. Please help. Thanks a lot. Md Arief

A server rename would should not cause any of the issues you described. Where there any other changes performed at the same time of the server rename? Have you checked with your SAN vendor to make sure the LUNS have absolutely no connection to the names, but simply the World Wide ID numbers (HBA IDs)? Visit: anITKB.com, an IT Knowledge Base.
