Running out of space
Good morning, I am running out of space on my C drive on my windows 2008 server. The WINSXS directory just keeps growing its getting ridiculous. I have run the disk cleanup tool a bunch of times and I have under 2GB free. Can anyone help? Thanks, Tommy

How much disk space do you have and is there anything else installed on the drive that may be moved to another partition ? WINSXS will continue growing with every update you install.

Hi, As Chris mentioned, WINSXS will continue growing with every update you install and this is a normal behavior. Please provide more information about your environment. Available Disk Space • Minimum: 10GB• Recommended: 40GB or greaterNote: Computers with more than 16GB of RAM will require more disk space for paging, hibernation, and dump files For more information, you can refer to: Windows Server 2008 System Requirements http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsserver/bb414778.aspx Best Regards, Vincent Hu

I have the same problem, the Windows cleanup utitliy is useless, it only free up 500MB free space. After search by google, I know we could extend the system c drive by getting space from other partitions, without losing data. Finally, I solved this bad problem by one tool called partition magic server, which works great. BTW, there is a guide how to extend C drive on server 2008.
