Routing and Remote Access Help
Windows 2003 R2 Standard server Just installed a Cisco ASA 5505 router on my network On my Windows 2003 server I install IAS Routing and Remote Access It is working I can VPN inusing PPTP remotely with no problem. When I came back to my home I had to restart a Windows 2008 server for updates when It came back it could not find the sql database that is on the same server that RRA is running. When I pinged the RRA server i got back 192.168.1.112 The static ip address for the RRA server is 192.168.1.15 192.168.1.112 is the RRA internal address All functions are working but I saw that the 192.168.1.112 address was placed in my DNS server So when i ping the server by name server15 it gives the 192.168.1.112 address and not the static address of 192.168.1.15 Any ideas and how I can get around this? Hi, You might have registered your network card with 192.168.1.112 in your DNS. Don't register that network card, instead register network adaptor with IP address 192.168.1.15Thanks, Swapnil Prajapati

Thank you for responding Yes the network adaptor 192.168.1.15 is set to register to DNS But I only have one physical network adaptor on this server. I am guessing that I need to add another network adaptor to the server for RRAS to work. Is that correct???Thomas R Grassi Jr

Hi, As per standard practice for RRAS. you need to have two network adaptors where one act as internal card and one as external cardThanks, Swapnil Prajapati

Great I am on the right track then So I will add the second network adaptor tonight I can make it use this ip address 192.168.1.16 then on the adaptor properties make sure it does not register into dns Then I would have to setup RRAS to point to 192.168.1.16 correct? Thanks again TomThomas R Grassi Jr
