Routing Table Manager Instances
The latest MSDN docs about the "Routing Table Manager Version 2"describes a feature that provides for multiple instances:http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa374057(VS.85).aspx,"How the Routing Table Manager Architecture Fits Together""When multiple instances of the routing table manager are started, the router has been configured to act as one or more virtualrouters. Each instance of the routing table manager owns one ormore interfaces; each interface can only be owned by one instanceof the routing table manager." However, the page that describes these instances: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa446779(VS.85).aspx,"Routing Table Manager Instance" states: "Currently, the routing table manager supports only one instance(identified as zero, the default). The client can register withother instances, but no virtual router except the default oneis recognized or used by the router manager"Question is: has anyone ever bothered to "register with otherinstances"? If yes, what happened? We need need a separate routing instance because we have a hardrequirement to route VPN spaces using the same address spaces asthe the underlaying physical transport space and simpledestination-based forwarding is insufficient within a singlespace in this case. We need hard separation of the logicalspace from the physical space and the described separaterouting manager instances sound just right (ifthey exists).Thanks.-
