Roaming profiles
This is probably a easy question but I have a server running 2008 r2 and have roaming profiles for my users. I placed a folder on the server called roaming and all of their profiles go to it. My question is though the desktop background and a few other
features go with them to each computer. However the files they save do not. What's the easiest way to make documents and pictures they save to travel with them?

I forgot to add on there, i have the file with the profiles in it shared and I also have windows xp running on a few of the computers. So some of the users also have the regular profiles as well as the ones with v2 suffix

Folder redirection is the best way to get users documents to be accessible where ever they logon,
A good guide i have used in the past that worked well is found here,
http://sourcedaddy.com/windows-7/implementing-folder-redirection.html
but the official Microsoft page is here

Hiya,
It depends on what you want?
Usually you wouldnt want documents to travel with them, as it can cause unnecessary trafic for the profiles. Instead you would proberly place them on a share instead. - maybe even point the My Documents folder down to that folder.
Similar to what is outlined here:

The file redirection thing makes sense, but what I'm really wanting is for the files to be stored on the server. It's a small network so the network traffic really isn't going to be an issue. Would I do this by creating a roaming profile with the \\Server\Roaming\user
as the profile path and under the home folder put C:\Roaming\user under the local path?

Figured I'd try the offline and redirection method. I am having some problems with the redirection though. In my user profile in the AD the profile path is \\Server\Roaming\jkay which works with my roaming profile with no problems. I then made a new folder
and titled it Redirection and went and edited the group policy in the folder redirection part. Each of the folders I set to basic and then also set it to create a folder for each user under the root path. Then under the root path i put \\Server\Redirection.
Should I of browsed and put C:\Redirection instead? After I logged off and back in I went to the server and looked in the Redirection folder and there was nothing in it. Any ideas?
Thanks for the help.

Hi,
I would like to confirm that what error message did you encountered?
Yes, you need to use the URL like
\\Server\Redirection.
Based on the current situation, you may refer to the following Microsoft TechNet articles for how to troubleshoot the Group Policy issue:

I seem to have everything right, however I still think something is wrong. My V2 folders and aren't the same as the others. When I save a document on xp it is working with other xp computers. but when I save a document from my windows 7 computer it never
shows up on 7 and the xp documents don't transfer over to 7.
