Roaming profil
Hello, I'm not quite sure if I'm here at the right place, but I try to ask my question. It's about roaming profil with a Windows XP client and Windows Server 2008. The roaming profl was set in AD like \Servername\profiles\%USERNAME%.The folder of the user was created on the server automatically, but the client does not write down the profile to the folder when doing the logoff. The user profile is shown under system, advanced option as "roaming" and the date gets updated every day. Sometimes I find in the event log an entry during winlogon. A domain server is not availble. But user scripts runs fine at logon and there is no domain issue.Could you please give some guidelines how best to troubleshoot? I did delete the profile folder on the sever and it was re-created again by the client the next time.Thank youEdy

Hi EdyThanks for the post. From your description, I understand that the roaming profile is not sync when logging off the user. Now I am wondering if this issue occurs all client machines and the other roaming profiles. Please check it.In addition, please describe the specific symptom about the roaming profile is not sync. Does any error message show up?Meanwhile, please collect the Setup&Performance version of MPSReport from the problematic client. a. Download the MPS Report Tool from the following link:http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/b/1/bb139fcb-4aac-4fe5-a579-30b0bd915706/MPSRPT_SETUPPerf.EXE b. After the download is complete, double-click this " MPSRPT_SETUPPerf.EXE" file. Then a CAB file will be generated called %COMPUTERNAME%_MPSReports.CAB. For example, if your computer name is "MyComputer", this CAB file will be named "MyComputer_MPSReports.CAB". c. Open My Computer, browse to the "%systemroot%\MPSReports\Setup\Logs\CAB" folder. You can find the CAB file above and please send it to me. Please send the files to me directly at tfwst@microsoft.comThanks,Miles

Hi Miles,Thank you for your reply.I will download it and run the report and send it to you. Thank you.We have lots of roaming profiles and all work fine. They all sync to the same folder on the server. Just one profile is not syncing, it never was, but the client creates the username folder in the profile folder of the server.Let's see what the report says.Thank youEdy
