Roaming Profiles -Server 2008R2
I am trying to setup a roaming profile for a couple of my users. I made a Profiles dir and in ADUC I set the Profile Path to : \\server_name\share_name\%username% I log into a win7 pc before adding this so it creates a local profile. I then make the change in ADUC to have the profile path point the above. When I login again as that user it does not work and nothing is in the dir I created. I get There was a problem with your roaming profile. You have been logged on with your previously saved local profile. Also I have to manually create create each user under Profiles ? It isnt like when you create home folder?

You should not have to create the folder within your share, it should get created automatically when the user first logs in. The fact that this folder is not being created suggests to me that you have not set the folder permissions correctly. My first suggestion would be to check the share permissions on your shared folder. In Explorer find your folder, right-click and choose properties. Click on the sharing tab and then click the permissions button. Set these to 'Everyone, Full Control'. Now get the user to log off and on a few times. If the folder still does not get created then your problem will probably be related to the NTFS permissions. If you have any more problems then post back here and I will see if I can help further. Hi, You do not need to manually create folder under the Profile path. Please first check the share permission and NTFS permission of the folder on server. For more information on how to configure the permissions, please check the following article: http://blogs.technet.com/b/askds/archive/2008/06/30/automatic-creation-of-user-folders-for-home-roaming-profile-and-redirected-folders.aspx You can also log on with a domain admin user on this Windows 7 computer and delete the pervious user profile as a test. Please remember to backup first. If the issue persists, please help gather the following file for research. Event log on the Windows 7 client ---------------- 1. Click "Start", click “Run”, input "eventvwr" and press Enter. 2. Expand the "Windows Logs" node on the left pane, right-click on "Application" and click "Save All Events As"; in the pop-up window, click to choose the Desktop icon on the left frame, input "app" in the "File name" blank, and then click save. 3. Locate the saved app log on the Desktop and send it to us. Upload these file to the following workspace. ------------------------------------------------------------ You can upload the information files to the following link.
