Roaming Profile not displaying Desktop Wallpaper
Hello,
We are running a server farm with Windows 2008 32bit and use roaming profiles. We currently allow users to change their desktop wallpaper by right-clicking a picture file and selecting "Set as Desktop Background". The problem is that the setting
doesn't stay after they log off and back on. I can see the location of the wallpaper file in the roaming profile (\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows Photo Gallery\) after applying it and the registry setting in HKCU also lists the correct location but
the wallpaper does not come back after users log off and back on. I've tried using both .jpg and .bmp files too after reading other posts with no luck.
Any ideas?

Hi,
I cannot reproduce this problem, to better troubleshoot this issue, please help to collect the following information:
1. What’s the version of your clients? Windows 7?
2. Where was the wallpaper file stored?
3. How did your users configure wallpaper? Please let us know the detailed steps so that we can test again.
Thanks.

Yes our clients are connecting via RDP to a Windows 2008 SP2 server farm and are using roaming profiles. The wallpaper file is stored in their profile and they right-click the file and select "Set as Desktop Wallpaper" to set it. Performing this
action moves the file into the \AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows Photo Gallery\ part of their roaming profile.
We have many of the other display settings disabled for our users but they are able to set wallpapers like this.

This sounds like more of a rdp issue. Do your rdp server configuration settings at current allow wallpapers to be applied? Also, are the end-users in question disabling the wallpapers inadherently on the connection settings?

Thanks Steve, you're absolutely right. The problem was due to the desktop wallpaper not being allowed in the RDP client connection settings. This explained why it was working for some users and not others.
