Restore Task Scheduler to Defaults
Hello,
I have an issue with Task Scheduler on two Window Server 2008 R2 machines.
For a bit of a background one is setup as a Terminal Server and the other is an SQL server. They are both connected to a SBS 2003 R2 system.
The issue is that the default system tasks under the 'Library\MicrosoftWindows' folder in the MMC Snap-In are all missing.
Is there a way/tool to reset these and the files in C:\Windows\System32\Tasks to their original default settings without a full system rebuild or a repair installation?

Hi,
Have you enable the Shadow Copies for this folders(C:\Windows\System32\Tasks)? If so, you can use Previous Versions to enable you can access previous versions of their
files and folders on your server. To enable access to previous versions of files, you must enable Shadow Copies of Folders on the server. Shadow copies are copies of files that are located on the server and appear as previous versions.
Accessing previous versions of files, or shadow copies, is useful because users can:
·
Recover files that were accidentally deleted. If you accidentally delete a file, you can open a previous version and copy it to a safe location.
·
Recover from accidentally overwriting a file. If you accidentally overwrite a file, you can recover a previous version of the file. (The number of versions
depends on how many snapshots you have created.)
·
Compare versions of a file while working. You can use previous versions when you want to check what has changed between versions of a file.
In addition, for more information about Shadow Copies of Shared Folders, on a computer running Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2, at Run, type:
hh scfs.chm.

Sadly we recently inherited this network/server and the issue was pre-existing and they had Shadow Copies off.
The registry appears to have been 'fiddled' with also, the Schedule Cache keys specifically.
