Resolving external dns

Hi

I have DNS set up on an internal Domain Controller using Windows 2008 R2 and domain is companyname.local

We have a site that we can access externally using https://servername.companyname.co.uk However when we try to access this internally we cannot get to the site but can using https://servename.companyname.local. We have two forward lookup zones: companyname.co.uk used for email to resolve a certificate issue and companyname.local.

I need to be able to connect to the site internally using https://servername.companyname.co.uk and have tried a few solutions but with no success.

Can anyone assist please

Regards

John

Hi,

Do you have firewall in place ? You have to configure through NAT (natting) option.

Free Windows Admin Tool Kit Click here and download it now

Hi John,

As Nmselvaraja mentioned, we need to ensure no firewall is blocking the traffic.

We may connect using IP address directly to check the network connection. If not successful, we need to solve the network issue first.

If successful, to connect by name, there need to be a corresponding Host record in forward lookup zone(companyname.co.uk).

How are the two sites connected?

If by VPN, add a Host record with the private IP address of the host.

If by Internet, add a Host record with public IP address.

Best Regards,

Leo
