Resize the partition
Hello, My C:\ drive has a capacity of 12 Go (free space 5,25 Go only) and my D:\ drive has a capacity of 55,6 Go (free space 43,5 Go). I am using Microsoft Windows server 2003 R2 (Standard x64 Edition) SP2. And I need to install some windows updates and upgrade my Exchange 2007 console SP1 to SP2. I would need to proceed to a resize and would like to increase my C:\ drive capacity to 20 Go. I have never done it before. Could you please help me out??? Thanks in advance, Graig

Hello Dave,Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. I have to resize 6-8 servers and increase the C:\ disk space.Does it mean that I need to get 6-8 licenses?? Is there any other possible way to resize the disk for free ???Otherwise I have few questions about the application you proposed me:- How long does it roughly take to resize a disk?- Would that impact the users? Will I have to reboot the server?- What risk do I run resizing the disk? Thanks again,Gregory

Good question. It looks like you may need to buy multiple licenses but I'd check that here. Yes, the server will need to be off-line for this process.http://www.acronis.com/support/You may want to consider some backup, rebuild, restore method.Regards,

You just mentioned the common problem that majority people met. How to extend the partition on the server 2003. Windows server 2003 DM does

Hi,
In order to resize system partition on Windows Server 2003, you have to use some partition software. Because there is no resize feature in Disk Management. and Diskpart doesn't support system/boot partition extension. Therefore, Server Partition Manager is
the best choice to
resize partition Windows 2003 without losing data.

hello~ guy
You can resize partition and increase your C: partition with the partition manager software, it is much easer and efficient,.
Based on my own experience, the MiniTool partition manager software is a good one, you can have a try. There are several ways to start Move/Resize operation. what is the most important part is that, MiniTool partition manager software home edition is FREE.
