Request a custom certificate to be signed
Hi Guys,Basically I have created a self-signed certificate on a Netapp (unix based machine) which I would like to get signed by my windows 2008 CA. Is there a manaual way to do this, also I need to copy and paste the certificate back into the netapp machine such as-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE REQUEST-----MIIC2jCCAcICAQAwgZQxHDAaBgNVBAMTE0dhdGV3YXkxLmNhZS5jb20uYXUxCzAJBgNVBAYTAkFVMRgwFgYDVQQIEw9OZXcgU291dGggV2FsZXMxDzANBgNVBAcTBlN5+UeqIT6i8O8aYRjDQulHKKpjwGsgEpB67tKjbRlJmnS/jDQWNzvixMglBq111f0MarFmAQnndfzX2D2UfNtJPvsBsE0Wimn+BA7mVtjdE8skyiJmE5dNjN/gb1NDs7D+nwg0rj/C6PoOJgkfdUuM9zdktOZ5YxTd92JbOreDoND3jcypBKxdXZRNTlPSUHRufYkyp3wDDMEytgfM9KxRLYNcbDceMScGZW5INhTl1TynwIDAQABoAAwDQYJKoZIhvcNAQEEBQADggEBAKT3VmEWGyM2U3w45Hmi4n3S3+kNjYlvR8vGCfx1z+QwEqXuY8FX42f0DYOTC/E8lUCyfP+XOdCCh8P9STjfVfs=-----END CERTIFICATE REQUEST-----

This is your certificate request. You need to save this request to a file if you plan to submit this request via certsrv.msc console (right-click on server -> All task -> submit new request). If you have Web Pages enabled, you can just copy/paste this request data:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc739375(WS.10).aspxafter certificate will issued you need to install this certificate to netapp machine.http://www.sysadmins.lv

Actually,m you can only do the direct submission on the CA if it is a Standalone CA.If it is an enterprise CA, you must use the Web enrollment pages so that you can designate a certificate template for the request.I guess you could use Certreq -submit as well (designating the certificate template)Brian
