1) Is that error from the Windows Event log or the SQL Server Log? (It sounds like an Windows service error, not the sort of detailed error that would be reported by SQL and kept in it's error log.) The windows Event log is visible through the Event Viewer and the SQL Server log can be seen through SSMS.

If you are using System Center suite products - SCOM, you can setup a monitor which will monitor this service and if it fails to start trigger a recovery task to automatically restart the service

great band aid solution which we have our own way of applying band aid solution not via SCOM. SSRS service not starting is one app but we now see this occurring more and more (services not automatically starting after a reboot) with other applications. Is anyone else having this issue?
