Report viewer fails to load when containing an external image with an invalid file path (IE11)

Hi there

Were trying to resolve an issue loading external images in an SSRS report. The report is pulling an image from a fileshare dynamically using an expression in the Use this image property (Image properties).

This all works fine when the file exists; however when the file doesn't exist, report viewer never gets beyond the loading popup in IE11. If we use compatibility view or another browser, it loads without issue.

Does anyone know if there is any other workaround aside from compatibility view with IE11 as we don't think that's a particularly satisfactory solution?

Thanks

Hi Yelsid1234,

According to your description, you have inserted a external image in a RDLC report. When the file doesnt exist, the report viewer doesnt popup with IE 11 browser, but all works fine when run report using IE with compatibility mode or other browser, right?

In your scenario, it seems that there is a compatibility issue between report viewer control and IE 11 browser. For this issue, I would recommend to submit a feedback to the Microsoft Connect at this link https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/Feedback.
