Replacing an SBS 2003 Server
After a period of rapid expansion, my lovely little infrastructure is beginning to show signs of strain. I have been running a single SBS server to support up to 10 pcs without issue. However, having purchased a new server, with twin cual core Xeons and bags of RAM, I cannot migrate the SBS installation to the new hardware. I have to retain the SQL ServerDB andExchange config.on the new machine as well as the contents of one or two shared folders, but otherwise am not too concerned about the rest. Due to the difference in the number of processors, I am at a loss as to how to address what would appear to be a brick wall. Any advice appreciated. I have spoken to an 'expert' who has spent weeks considering the best approach and patience has expired. Further expansion will occur over the next year and it is likely that we will have over 20 client machines by 2008. What should I do?

What do you mean by "migrate"? Are you trying to restore an image of the old server to the new server or have you installed a fresh install of SBS on the new server and then tried to migrate databases and identities and ACLs? Tell me more about the migration process. MK blogs.technet.com/mkleef
