Renaming User Accounts using DSMOD command

Hi,

Thanks for your post.

Do you follow the steps to rename the same?

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/Cc772952%28v=WS.10%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

And what's the error message do you get when you use DSMOD command?

For that purposes you can use Adaxes, which allows to bulk modify any user property using a simple GUI. http://www.adaxes.com/active-directory_management

It has a 30 day trial that should be more than enough to accomplish your task.

Hi,

The command DSMOD provides facility to change various attributes of a user account. However, I want to change a particular section of user account, which I am not able to do using DSMOD. I have attached the screenshots, where I have circled the value that I want to modify.

Request support as I need to modify this value in around 1000+ users.

Thanks,

Amit Jogi

Hi Mary Dong,

Thank you for the response.

I am able to use the DSMOD command to modify/rename First Name, Last Name, Middle Name and even the User Logon Name.

However, changing any of the above values does not modify the value that I have circled in the previously attached screenshot.

I want to only modify this particular circled value only, using DSMOD command.

Modifying this value using MMC is possible i.e. Right Clicking the user object and selecting "Rename" option. I want to perform this action using DS commands.

You may also reproduce this case in your environment so that you can get better idea about what I am looking for.

Thanks,

Amit Jogi

Hi Amit Jogi,

Thanks for your reply.

And I also do the same test which you mentioned. Get the same results with you: couldn't the change the full name (which you mean the part you circled )

And in my first post link, it also just introduces to change full name with Windows interface.

I suggest you post in Powershell forum to ask for if there's some way to change full name with scripts.

Here is the powershell forum:
