Remove resources not in use

Hi. I'd like to know how can I remove unused resources in my VM in Hyper-V. For example, when I create a virtual machine in generation 1, it automatically adds Floppy Drive, COM1 and COM2. But I do not want and need those resources. Those can even cause some problems regarding some operating systems.

Is there a way to remove those resources after the machine is created?

Hi Phill,

Floppy and the COM ports can't be removed from a Gen1 Machine.

Try and find out.

When the VM is powered off; Select something you don't want and attempt to remove.  If you can, it is possible.

Jens already mentioned one issue, move to a Generation 2 VM and you can strip it down farther.

Hi Phill,

Generation 2 Virtual Machine has no floppy controller support, you may try it.
