Remote performance logging on Server 2003
I'm trying to log the performance of a Server 2003 machine on a Win 7 Pro machine. I can add counters and see the performance of the server on the win 7 machine in real time, but I get an error about the log file having less than 2 binary data points or
being corrupt. I've seen a couple of items on the Internet about this being a problem with the account that is running perfmon on the Server. How do I see and change that account information.

Although this looks to be for windows 2k, the causes seem plausible in your case also.

- You start and stop a log within 15 seconds. There is not enough time for information for two data points to be written.
- The log file is very small (around only 20 KB).
- The log file is corrupted.
In this blog post its mentioned that you can go to properties of the data collector set and change the account.
Here is a sample although from a newer version:

Marius,
Thanks much! Your sample from the newer version let me set the "Run As" to Administrator - and then things worked!
I had quickly glossed over that tab and didn't realize that the Run As option was there.
