Remote access to Biztalk Admin Console

Howdy

I've not researched this for a few years and can't find any new information.

Is it now possible to give individual users access to the Biztalk management console, but only have read access and not have to physically login to the Biztalk box?  We are on Biztalk 2010?

I've looked at tools such as Biztalk 360 (nice tool), but for now we would like to use management console if it's possible.

Thanks

Hi,

Only option is I think assign the users to BizTalk Operators Group and they do need to login as there is no remote management console avaible from MS (that is why BizTalk360 is there). This group has a low privilege role with access only to monitoring and troubleshooting actions.

  • Members of the BizTalk Server Operators group can do the following:
    - View service state and message flow.
    - Start or stop applications.
    - Start or stop orchestrations.
    - Start or stop send ports or send port groups.
    - Enable or disable receive locations. The changes do not take effect until the next cache refresh interval of 60 seconds, which is the default. The cache refresh interval is set at the   BizTalk Server group level.
    - Terminate and resume service instances.

  • Members of the BizTalk Server Operators group cannot do the following:
    - Modify the configuration for BizTalk Server.
    - View message context properties classified as Personally Identifiable Information (PII) or message bodies.
    - Modify the course of message routing, such as removing or adding new subscriptions to the running system, including the ability to publish messages into the BizTalk Server runtime.

Still as you can conclude user belonging to that group can do start/stop actions you probably do want them to perform.

You can install the BizTalk Server Administrator on a remote machine and connect to the the BizTalk Group without physically logging into the server.

How does the licensing work for installing the Admin console on the user's laptop?

does he need MSDN licensing ? does he need CAL license for windows server/SQL server ?

Licensing is very complicated now.

Thanks
