Remote WMI monitoring
I've been reading up on this and researching but from my perspective this is a complete mess. We have a domain, and a number of servers consisting of both Server Full and Server Core. Step by step, can someone explain how I can allow a non-Administrative user to remotely monitor Server Core servers using WMI. I can't even set the CIMM2 namespace security settings on a server core machine remotely, looking at the security tab provides only Root that does not expand. Surely MS don't expect us to allow Domain Administrative accounts to exist just for monitoring, that flies in the face of all best practice they themselves preach!! For reference this is the type of query that will be running: wmic -U "DOMAIN/username%password" //[serverIP] "SELECT [whatever]"
