Remote Desktop Conn. with W7, can we prevent disconnection if duplicate user id is used?
Hello,
We are using Remote Desktop Connection to connect to a Windows server where a database file is stored. We have a pool of remote desktop userids. If someone signs on with UserID1 and another user signs on with UserID1, it is my understanding
that the connection from the first user will suddenly be dropped and given to the second user. Is there any way to avoid that and prohibit the second user from signing on with that id? This could be disasterous to the database. Thank you
very much,
Debbie

You should create a user account for each user. I am wondering why you dont do this?

Yes, I know but I believe it's a license and capacity issue. We have a server and about 200 locations that periodically have to log in. If we created a user id for each location, it would be over 200 userids. Do you know
if what I'd like to do is possible? Thanks.

Hi,
You can configure the setting "Restrict Users to a Single Session" to allow one user ID login a single session on the TS server.
