RemoteApp outside the LAN not working.

Hello all,

We have installed and configured Remote desktop licensing, Remote desktop session host configuration, Remote desktop gateway manager and RemoteApp manager in a 2008 R2 std server. The server is attached with the domain.

RemoteApp server is using a self signed certificate. The certificate is added in Trusted Root Certificate Authority Store.

Published RemoteApp is working properly inside the LAN environment. But when trying to access from internet after the first login page while clicking on the published remoteapp icon (like notepad, calculator etc.) a logon credential window is appearing. But instead of providing correct credentials it keeps on asking again and again. (In LAN segment also this 2nd time logon credentials appears but after providing correct credentials the remote apps opens properly).

The RemoteApp server is behind a sonicwall firewall. We have opened and NATed http 80, https 443 and terminal services 3389 for that server. (mstsc is working from internet to that server properly)

We tried to configure that RemoteApp server as VPN server and connect system over the wan. The client system is getting the desired IP assigned by server (local LAN scope) but while accessing RemoteApp the result is same.

LOGON CREDENTIAL IS BEING ASKED AGAIN AND AGAIN WHILE ACCESSING OVER THE WAN.

Question:

1. Is it a certificate related issue?

2.Is it possible to access remoteapp from internet using a self signed certificate or a purchased SSL certificate is required to achive the goal?

Please forgive my long post.

Regards,

Subh
