Reinstalling Hyper-V fails Windows 8.1

Hi All,

Had some issues with virtual switch, it never worked. Tried to enable/disable hyper-v.

Pretty much does not install anymore. Maybe some of you have an idea.

Here output from CBS.log based on it seems the virtual switch part is failing, but no idea why exactly:

Hi,

Would you please provide some more background for the issue you experienced? Do you mean the Virtual switch on the 8.1 hyper-V machine don't work?

Which type of the switch did you used? External, Internal or Private? How did you know the virtual switch don't work? Any error message on the screen?

Best Regards,

Jason Zeng

Hence please do provide as much information as possible about the issue so that we could help you out better.

Also do provide the exact steps that you were following to create the Virtual Switch.

Hi All,

I do not have my machine near anymore to collect additional info.

Once I get back I'll restore it from backup and discuss adding external switch. I tried to solve it by removing, adding switch driver as recommended in some forums but it did not work.

You can close this thread until I get back to my workstation in few months. Thanks for your time.

I realize this thread is really old, but I'm having the same issue (cbs.log looks identical to OP's log file)

I just upgraded to 8.1 Pro so that I can run the Windows Phone 8.1 emulator.  I made sure Virtualization was enabled on my CPU (it was) and went to install Hyper-V platform using Programs and Features.  When it restarted my computer, it looked like it was installing the feature until it got to like 96%, then said "We're unable to install the feature".  I looked in my log and found exactly what the OP found.

I'm using an HP Envy Touhscreen x360 with an i7-4510U processor.

I'm not sure why I'm getting an access is denied error for this, as I have had no other problems installing features or updates.

Any help with this issue would be appreciated.

Thanks,
