Registry Security settings have gone missing and the properties cannot be check but it keeps logging events
I have a Windows 2000 Server that it is still logging events from security but the configuration of it cannot be seen, is all blank and grey, when i go to the registry keys that should hold the configuration under HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog\Security, But if i check other ControlSets there is data under that path, so i have 2 questions: 1.- Why did this happened? 2.- How can i prevent this from happening again.

I found the source of this issue, the problem was that there was a lack of permissions using regedt32 instead of regedit, the setting was everyone deny full control, so when you checked it from the regedit configuration you were not able to see anything underneath, not even the properties to see the security tab, it is a really interesting bug, too bad windows 2000 is out of support now hehe.... To fix it i only had to remove the security setting for everyone deny full control using regedt32, and then everything came back to normal =D
