Redirected folder problem
I am doing a test of redirected folders in my organization. We are running Server 2003 and mostly Windows XP, and I have a Test OU set up with 4 test accounts in it.
In my initial attempt at setting this up, I redirected to a folder on a mapped drive (S:) on the server, without sharing the folder itself. As a result, the Offline Files feature kicked in and the entire mapped drive attempted to back itself up to each test
computer as they logged off. I corrected this by deleting the original folder that I created on the S: drive and creating a new shared folder on the D: drive of the server. The redirection to this folder now works properly, but the S: drive still tries to
back itself up when the test computers log off. I have looked and looked for a way to turn off Offline Files for this mapped drive but I can't find anything that works. How do I fix this?

What I have understood is that the old folder mapped drive is still applied. If yes, then have a look to this
Microsoft article about group policy recommandations for Folder redirection:
http://technet.microsoft.com/fr-fr/library/cc778960(WS.10).aspx
Look to the Summary
of Folder Properties Page Settings for Redirected Folders.

Thanks, Mr X, but if I'm reading this right it doesn't apply to my problem. I'm not trying to get the redirected files back to the user profile location. I want to stop the entire mapped drive from trying to synchronize with each test account by trying
to copy itself to the user profile every time a test computer logs off.

Try to disable Synchronize all offline files before logging off setting and check if this solve your problem.

Thanks, but that didn't work either. Maybe I should rephrase the question: How can I turn off Synchronization on the S: drive on my server? That would take care of the problem for me.

OK, I have it figured out. I had to go back to the original user account that synchronization was first set up on and turn Offline Files off there by doing this:
Double click on "My Computer"
Click "Tools" -> "Folder Options"
Click on the "Offline Files" tab
Uncheck the "Enable Offline Files" check box
Now the mapped drive no longer has every folder showing up as being synchronized and it doesn't sync with the test computers at logoff.
Thanks for your help.
