Recommended Virus Protection for Win2k8
I'm building a new network from scratch and have decided to run Windows 2008 Server. I can't seem to find any products for AntiVirus protection. Anyone know of anything being offered? I'm running x86 on one server and x64 on the other.

Hello, Currently, Windows Server 2008 certified Anti-Virus software list has not been published yet. However, the following Anti-Virus software application claims that they support Windows Server 2008. You may contact the manufacturer for more information. Kaspersky the First to Jump in Defense of Windows Server 2008 - With Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Server Enterprise Edition http://news.softpedia.com/news/Kaspersky-the-First-to-Jump-in-Defense-of-Windows-Server-2008-79773.shtml Symantec AntiVirus 10.2 for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 http://shop.symantecstore.com/store/symnasmb/en_US/DisplayProductDetailsSmbPage/ThemeID.106400/productID.78527800/pgm.13197500 Meanwhile, before Windows Server 2008 certified Anti-virus software is published, you may consider using anti-virus software that is certified for Windows Vista. Generally speaking, Anti-virus software that is certified for Windows Vista should work as well or better on Windows Server 2008 than Certified for Windows Server 2003 software. To get the application list that is certified for Vista, please refer to the following link: https://winqual.microsoft.com/member/softwarelogo/certifiedlist.aspx I hope this helps. Neo

HI, I also tried installing the SAVCE 10.2 client version in one W2K8 Server (x32) and was faced with the problem of non-responsive shares on the server when accessed from XP-sp2 and XP-SP3 clents. Kaspersky got certified for only the x64 server version as mentioned in the Windows Server Catalog. What is there for the x32 version servers? Pls help!!!

I believe the most reliable version of anti-virus software on the market at the moment would be Grisoft AVG. I have tested on the x64 version of Win2k8 server and noticed virtually no drop in performance (which i did with the likes of Symantec and Mcafee). Apart from the Odd false positive virus warning when transfering some pen testing software its been behaving itself very well. Thats my recomendation - allthough from what i understand its not specifically coded for this version of server - it does work, and works well in my opinion.
