Rebuilding a SCOM 2007 R2 RMS by pointing it to the older Operationsmanager Database.

Hi All,

I was doing a small testing on my SCOM 2007 R2 CU4 Lab equipment. Finally i messed up the OS and had to rebuild the OS From Scratch.

As the Operationsmanager and OperationsmanagerDW ware placed on another server running SQL Server 2008 R2, The databases were perfect.

Post rebuilding the OS. I Ran the SCOM 2007 R2 Setup and in the setup instead of creating new management group and DB's i pointed to the old database its self. The setup completed successfully and then i updated to CU4 (Only the SCOM Setup) As the DB's were updated with the setup before, Same with the Agents.

Now the issue is the console works but nothing works.

1. No Alerts appear in the console

2. The Agents remain Healthy always

3. The agents dont grey even after stopping the health service

4. All the SCOM Services work fine.

5. Tasks keep running for ever

6. Discovery wizard keeps running for ever.

I also had a backup of the old encryption key. I restored it and again it totally messed up. Again restored the new encryption key with the new one and now console works but still all the 6 points mentioned above are the issue.

Is there any way to make this rebuilt work with reinstalling a fresh one with a new database ?
