Re-directed 'Documents' folder being auto-matically renamed
Group policy applies 2 actions to a 'roaming profile' of a user who logs into a Remote Desktop Services (Server 2008 R2) server. First, the profile is stored in one location - that gets copied back and forth between server(s) and the file store. Second, the ‘Documents’ folder (Server 2008 file structure) is redirected to another file store on the same file server. The folder is named the username and gets auto-created the first time a user logs in. I’m testing out an existing profile (on new Remote Desktop Services servers) and the users ‘Documents’ folder on the share gets renamed to ‘Documents’. HOWEVER, when you open that folder, in the URL bar, it is in fact named the users username. Anyone know why this is happening? I’ve completely deleted their profile on the file store, deleted their redirect location on the file store, and removed their profile from the ProfileList in the registry

Hi, According to my test, this behavior is by design and you do not need to worry about it. I tried to redirect the “Desktop” folder to “C:\DesktopTest” and you can see the below captured screenshot, the folder in Drive C appears with the name “Desktop”, but the folder location is “C:\DesktopTest”.
