RDS Virtual Desktop Collection showing unknown status.

Hi Everyone,

I got a strange issue with RDS environment, On one fine morning , we are not able to view the pooled managed collections under collections tree, however if we click on collection you can see it as unknown( below screenshot ). I am able to manage other pooled collection apart from one with 140 VMs with the help of PowerShell. Apart from this everything is running as it should be , however now we are not able to manage it and this is major problem that we are not able to manage settings.

This checked till now.

1.       All Pooled Managed VDIs are showing unknown.

2.       Only  One Pooled Managed Collection having issue.

3.       Collections are working and behaving normally, Only one Collection with 140 VMs having issue while updating the collection and rest of the collection are accessible and working fine from command line.

4.       No changes in RDSCB SQL database, no job are pending to execute in DB as well.

5.       No Major events related to VDI connection broker.

Getting Below error while managing with powershell.

New-Object : Cannot convert argument "2", with value: "", for "RDVirtualDesktopCollectionJobStatus" to type "System.DateTime": "Canno

Hi,

I have once encountered a simialr thread, which was resolved by just clicking on Delete Collection without actual deletion.

Here is the thread link below for you:

Hi,

This means i click on remove collection and it will not remove collection ?

After I click on Remove Collection, a confirm message pops out, so unless we click on the Yes button, the collection wont be removed.

Here is a screenshot below for you:

HI Amy,

I tried clicking on remove collection without confirming yes, its didn't gave me any success.

according to other thread i asked to dennis "It was interesting to note that the instant I click "delete collection" in Server Manager the second collection started to work correctly again."

I am not sure weather i should delete collection or i will continue looking into this.

Hi,

As the way I see it, delete collection then recreate it should resolve the issue, which is not a very complicated fix.

It would be pretty difficult to troubleshoot the issue, further debugging would be required, and you may need to contact Microsoft Customer Support and Services to find specialists to help, therefore I would recommend you to recreate collection.

If you want to further look into this issue, you may use Process Monitor to capture real-time thread activities:
