RDP Session not possible after restart command
We have a random issue with our windows 2003 server where we cannot do any RDP sessions when we try to restart the machine from a remote desktop session. Once we give restart command from our RDP session we will get disconnected and from the logs we can see the server gets shutdown instraction but its never restarted. We can ping the server and can login locally on the console and if we restart the server we can connect back to the server using RDP. if the server is an SQL server we can connect using SQL management studio but still cant do RDP session. This occurs randomly on many servers virtual and physical and restaring the server by logging in locally fix the issue. Does any one know anything about this behaviour? is there any known issues like this?

Hi, To better understand the issue, please confirm: What command are you using to restart the server and result in the issue? What error message do you receive? If there is event logged on the computer, could you please post it here for research? To restart a Terminal Server, you may consider using tsshutdn.exe. http://blogs.technet.com/b/askperf/archive/2010/02/09/two-minute-drill-shutdown-exe-tsshutdn-exe-and-psshutdown-exe.aspxThis posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
