RAID5 GPT troubles on Promise FastTrak TX8660
Hello all! I have a very strange (and it seems unique) problem with my Promise RAID controller FastTrak TX8660. I have a clear installation of Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise server with all updates. System disk is SATA, connected to motherboard Asus P7P55D PRO (with latest BIOS). And i have a big volume of 5 2Tb HDDs, two of them are Hitachi HDS722020ALA3, and 3 - Western Digital WD20EARS-00S8B1 - i create a RAID5 volume, and initialize them as GPT. My FastTrak TX8660 operates with latest firmware and latest driver version. Everything is ok until the used space on my volume reaches 2Tb (or greater), and i launch Windows Server Backup. As soon as i launch any backup shedule, while the service starts, it kills down my volume to uninitialized partition! And logs show nothing - nothing at all. No errors, no warnings, no information - nothing. RAID5 itself stands functional, it continues to work with all it`s features. Only volume crashes. With all data. If i make not RAID5 but SPAN volume - backup goes well. If i have 1.9Tb of data - backup goes well. If i do not launch Windows Server Backup at all - everything works fine. If i make an MBR volume with 2.0Tb of data - it works fine. But i have 4Tb of data, and i need RAID5 with backup!!! I tried to create a RAID5 from 3 WD HDD`s - it crashes just as a "mixed" one with Hitachi. I tried to write to Promise tech support - and they have not found anything other than to send me here. So, any ideas?

Hi, If you didnt get the issue with a 3 WD HDDs RAID 5, then you may encountered a compatibility issue. It is recommended that you contact Promise to perform the further research. Thanks for your understanding.

3 WD`s RAID5 behaves just as 3WD+2Hitachi RAID5. No difference at all. I knew that you advice me to contact Promise. I already contacted them - and they said me to contact Microsoft ;-} They are also completely unaware of this problem... Now i`m building a RAID10 volume of 4WD`s and 2Hitachi HDDs. Interesting, how it will perform. Praying gods, it will work. I`ll tell you the result.
