R2 crashing Office 2013 - 2996807 fix?

Hello,

Our new print server is installed on a Windows 2012 R2.  We are experiencing the known issue of slow and crashing Office 2013 when used in combination with R2.  Is anyone familiar with this?

I have ran all important Windows Updates available for our 2012 R2 server.  Should this be enough?

When I tried to run this hotfix on the server, it just says "not applicable to this computer": https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2996807

It says this is a prerequisite required before installing: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355  - but surely this should already be installed because I ran all important updates?  I am worried about installing this as a standalone install as it supposedly should have been installed via important Windows Updates?

Thanks,

Edufiend

You can use powershell to see what updates are installed. There should be no difference installing it stand alone verses using windows update. Always have good backups as a fail-safe, and use a test environment if possible.

Try:

Get-WmiObject -Class win32_quickfixengineering
