Quick Question about Windows Server 2003
I don't see a forum for Server 2003 specifically, so I apologize if this is in the wrong place. Is Windows Server 2003 based on the Windows "NT" development tree? I was told that Server 2003 identifies itself as NT 5.2. The reason I ask is that we have a software license for "Windows NT Systems". If Windows 2003 is based off NT, then we should be fine....but if technically (at its roots) its totally different than NT, then we may have to examine our software license. Any help is appreciated...links, support docs...whatever. Thanks for your time!

Are you talking about a Windows license or a license for a non Microsoft product that runs on Windows?

Hello, First of all it doesnt means that if your software is licensed for Windows Nt means it will work on Micrsosoft Windows 2003 server. There is a possibility thatwhenthesoftware was builtit was compatible to work with Windows NT 4.0 because atthat time it wasthe only nt version existedso it willnever work on the new version of NT though theroots of Windows 2003 are from Nt. I suggest you to talk to the Software vendor and seek his help.and listed below are the version of NT released till date. hi there,Hello all , this license is totally different than we think and its complicated. As we develop the software in our org we actually ship the license along with the software and not the OS which is what valkyrr is talking about. procedure is you code your application and then add the license key and then ship it to vendors / customers.Valkyrr you need to read the EULA agrement and understand if the license is in re-distributable mode. remember not all MSDN license is used as re-distributalb e, you need to contact your IT to get this info.sainath Windows Driver Development
