Question on Computer Hours.. 16 Hours daily insead of 24 Hours. why?

Hi,

I am on trial right now. I wish to know the actual numbers before putting my servers LIVE in Azure.

i have two small VM which is active daily for 24 hours. However the billing system is capturing as 16 hours daily. Shouldn't it be 48 units (2 quantity of 24 units)? How does the Compute Hours work?

If I recall correctly, extra small instances consume one third the CPU hours of small instances. 48/3 = 16, so my guess would be that you've deployed using extra small instances.

are those Virtual Machines (Azure IaaS)? VMs are 33% off until in the preview phase right now.

Are you sure that you are looking the billing regarding 2 Small Instances for 24h?

There's something odd with that billing, 16 hours would make sense because of the 33% off like perpetualKid said but for 1 instance, since you have 2 instances...

I suggest that you contact Billing Support at http://www.windowsazure.com/en-us/support/contact/

and share your findings with us :)

it is almost 15 days old thread and probably you may got you answer for other peoples who also has this confusion my answer for those.

I was also having the exact same issue. Then i download my billing detail in csv format and found this bug in windows azure billing. The graph you see when you click on detail button is not for all of you virtual machine. Some time the graph will show the compute hours for your virtual machine A and some time for virtual machine B.

And  You see 16 hours daily  for you single vm because in preview mode we have 33% discount.

I asked support of Microsoft, I got detail of my one day usage report.

it shows 91 hours for 8th January.
