Question
What major tasks are required to create an Active Directory site?

An Active Directory site is a logical representation in the diretory that represents a well connected network (usually a local area network of more than 512 KB of bandwidth). The creation of the site object is done via the Active Directory Sites and Services Console. In addition to the creation of the site, you need to assign subnet objects to the site. Once the site is established, domain controllers are assigned to the site either during the DCPROMO process or after the fact. Either way is acceptable. The benefit is that Windows 2000 and later systems are AD Site Aware. You will be able to control authentication traffic and replication traffic between the sites via various configuraiton settings. Visit my blog: anITKB.com, an IT Knowledge Base.
