It is possible to access the intranet as well as internet in the same machine. How can I achieve the other elements in the intranet to communicate to internet through proxy server. additional Info: 1st Ethernet Card - intranet IP: 10.80.251.10/24 DG: 10.80.251.254 (OSPF) 2d Ethernet Card - internet IP: DHCP Expecting the positive reply Thank you Srimadhumohan

Proxy servers have nothing to do with RRAS or default gateways. If you are relying on default gateways and RRAS, you are using NAT, not proxy. NAT will work without making changes in the client OS. Ths client behaves as if it has a direct connection to the Internet because NAT handles the address translation. To use a proxy server, you must make changes in the client itself. The proxy client must know the proxy server's IP address and must be able to contact it directly. It does not need a default gateway because it does not need to find a router. The proxy server handles its Internet access and the client contacts the proxy directly. Bill
