Product Key & Support
Im with a new organization and its a complete and total mess!!!. Noone knows if we have MS support, volume licenses or for that matter VALID licensing for the servers. The org. uses windows server 2003 x32 and 64, however I have no idea
what the license key used was, if it were valid, or where I can find it.... NO documentation whatsoever!!
What I have is a bunch of product keys that could have been used, the Admins are thinking the servers were built with MSDN products, others are saying they have single licenses, the Director thinks the software was purchased at Best Buy... ARRRGGUUUUHHH!!!!
and YES YOU READ THAT CORRECTLY "BEST BUY" needless to say, I need some help!!
How can I find the product key, preferably without the aid of those "free" product key finders, and find out whether or not this organization has MS Support or Volume license?? Can anyone help? I'm about ready to walk out the door on this one....

For the licenses you'll need to find the documents to support what's installed. As to what keys were used for installation I don't think it really matters. You can also call them up.

Hello,
Look at the first 8 digits of the PID ( properties of My computer) (something like this - aaaaa-bbb-ccccccc-ddddd)
Can you list what is in the bbb location from the example from a few of the machines?
That may help identify some of the channels the media came from.
you can use this as a reference
