Processor Affinity and Set Affinity...
Hi, We are running Windows 2003 x64 on a dual quad-core CPU server. We have a program that can use all the 8 cores at once when it launches which is great because it can finish whatever we ask it to do very quickly. However, sometimes I want it to use only 4 cores because the server is busy doing something else. I know I can set which cores a program to use in Task Manager's Set Affinity menu but I want to know if I can set it when I launch the program. The cmd.exe option only allows you to set which core to use only, it won't allow me to set a program to use 2 cores for example. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!
