Problems winth Server 2008 R2 communicating with Novell Server 5.0
We are phasing out an old NOvell server, but need to establish communication between new Windows server 2012 R2 and volumes on the Netware 5.0 server. We can ping the server, but cannot authenticate to it using the latest Novell client as it does not see the Tree or server. Attempts to copy IPX/SPX files from Server 2003 to their respective locations on the 2008 server fails to show the protocol as available. Is this becasue R2 is 64-bit OS? Could there be a firewall setting preventing their communication? Any help on this issue is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, Thanks for your post. Please note that IPX/SPX has been officially removed from windows server system since server 2008. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753256(WS.10).aspx#BKMK_6 If you copy files of path from server 2003 to path on server 2008 R2, you may try the Windows\SysWoW64. Its for 32-bit version. Since this is not supported by Microsoft, you do this in your own risk. Also take a backup before doing this.
