Problems logging on with domain admin at global catalog server through RDP

Hi There,

Recently i've created a brand new domain within our organisation
bases on Windows Server 2008R2, our old AD didn't suit our organisation
anymore, which was an SBS2003 AD, and our organisation has grown beyond
the 75 clients which are alowed in an SBS2003 AD.
While building
the new domain, i was able to log in with the builtin administrator
account at the new server trough RDP for administation use. After
promoting the server to an Global catalog server for our new domain, i
wasn't able to login trough RPD anymore.
When the server has been
rebooted, or the administrator account has ben logged of I MUST login at
the console with the domain admin, after that i can login with RDP
again. I've checked the security settings in de policy's. the active
directory and all other places which i could find in this forum, but a
wasn't able to resolve the problem. Our other server, based on windows
server 2003R2 which is a DC doesn't have these problems, so as our other
2 windows Server 2008R2 Member servers. The problem only exists at the
Global Catalog server.

Hopefuly I can get some help resolving this issue, since our
business is opened from 08:00 AM till 10:00 PM six days a week I'm not
always at the site location, and when there are problems, i need to
manage the servers from home, when there are problems I have to go to
the office to resolve these problems, which isn't the way it should be.

Kind regards,
Hein Hartjes

Hello,
I have seen similar issues not on DCs but on our member servers after we installed patch KB2667402.
Strange thing was, the problem was sporadic i.e. out of say 10 WS 2008 R2 servers on which KB2667402 has been installed, we had RDC issues on 2-3 machines. We had to remove KB2667402 to get the RDC issues fixed on affected servers.

Thanks for your reply, i've checked if the mentioned update was installed at the affected server, which wasn't the case.
In my situation this doesn't resolve the issue.

Hello,
never have seen this problem. Any errors in the event viewer when this happens?
What kind of authentication do you use within the RDC options and the server, talking about Options, Avanced, server authentication?Best regards

I was wrong, i've searched the list of updates again, but now with the KB instead of only the number, and found the KB2667402 update, uninstalled it, rebooted the server, and my problem is solved.
Thanks everyone for your help!!!
