Problem with root certificate for WSUS

Hello!

I want to enable SSL for my WSUS server.

In the instruction I saw that someone uses Domain certificate. I have already this certificate and certlist shows it to me.

So, but I don't remember anything about it. Also I cannot export it in pfx format, so I cannot import it to WSUS.

Can you tell, can I create in WSUS console one more Domain Certificate? Does it can break something that works now. This old certificate works for LDAPS.

Thank you!

Hi,

WSUS console can't generate certificate.

To get a certificate, we has 3 options:

  • Request certificate from internal CA.
  • Generate a self-signed certificate by using IIS, makecert or some other tools.
  • Purchase a certificate from public CA.

To configure the SSL on WSUS, please refer to following article:

Best Regards.

It is strange, because I made to work WSUS with my workstation.

I receive update from WSUS, but I cannot login to console anymore after I do everything like in this instruction.

Thank you!

Hi,

After configuring the SSL on WSUS, have you changed the settings in WSUS console? If no, please change it.

We need to use SSL to connect to the WSUS server.

Here is the screenshot of my lab:

Hello!

Yes, I changed this settings, but it doesn't help.

WSUS console cannot connect to server anymore. I am connecting to localhost. I also tried connecting with this local server name. But it doesn't help.
