Problem with csv

I am trying to migrate storage for hyper-v vm's to a new csv.  When I try to move any VM's storage to the new target I get the following error..

an error occurred while moving the virtual machine storage 0x80071008 invalid parameter.

I have already unmounted the iso on the VM

Could you please provide some more information about your configuration and steps about your process?  Operating system version?  Hardware configuration?  Copying files?  Importing virtual machines?  Live Migrating from one host to a cluster?  Domain configuration?  You have not provided enough information for anyone to even make a guess.

Yes- Of Course.  Thank you for alerting me to this oversight Tim.

We are running 2012 server on a 2 node failover cluster. There is an iscsi SAN where both target CSV's live. Volume1 has been in production.  I have tried to move several VM's from Volume 1 to the new Volume2.  The new volume does not have any VM's stored yet. When I try to migrate storage from the Failover Cluster Manager I receive the error that I described above.  Please let me know if I have overlooked any important information.

-Thanks

Jim

Can you create a new VM on the new CSV2?  Just checking to make sure that is operating correctly.

What are the options you are selecting when trying to move the VM storage from CSV1 to CSV2?

Hi,

Please try to disable ODX feature then try the move again. Then please install the Hotfix KB2796995.

KB2796995:

Offloaded Data Transfers fail on a computer that is running Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2796995/en-us

Hope this helps.

I would think by now you have resolved, but in case anyone comes across this situation, I just had this happen to me and my solution was to unmount the Physical DVD drive in the Settings for the VM I was trying to move. I had just installed the VM using the DVD, then when I went to move the VM to another storage volume I would get the error you described (0x80071008), this seemed to be because the DVD drive is listed under the VM of items it's trying to move.

Another way I got around this was to expand the VM in the top window of the Move Virtual Machine Storage Window, by clicking the + symbol then individually selecting the items I wanted to move.  This allowed me to move the vhdx and current configuation, however to move the Checkpoints and Smart Paging, I opened the Settings for the specific VM and manually changed (they are located in the left pane near the bottom).

Hope this helps someone.
