Problem with administratively assigned offline files
Environment: Windows Server 2003 R2 (32-bit), Standard Edition, SP2 Windows Server 2003 Domain Functional Level Windows XP Professional (32-bit), SP3 A path like \\our_domain\dfs_root\offline_folder was added to a GPO (User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Network > Offline Files > Administratively assigned offline files). All root targets for \\our_domain\dfs_root have the share properties/caching setting "Only the files and programs that users specify will be available offline". After a 'gpupdate /target:user' on an XP client, RSOP shows the new administratively assigned offline folder. However, the path doesn't appear in the Items to Synchronize dialog, even after logging off and on or rebooting. KB 2379156 doesn't apply in this case. Ideas? Thank you, Ron

Resolved this by re-reading the instructions in the Administratively assigned offline files Properties dialog. :-) Specify network files and folders that are always available offline. In the name field, type a fully-qualified UNC path for each file or folder. Do not enter a value for the item. Before, I had entered a "label" in the name field and the UNC path in the value field. I should have read the instructions more closely the first time. On the other hand, the Add Item dialog could have been designed to be more obvious (e.g. not including a field that isn't intended to be used).
