Problem with Microsoft CA(Certificate authority)?!
Hi all; Here is the only place I could seek help on my problem.... I wanna learn and work with "Microsoft CA(certificate authority)",I'm using Windows XP and because "MS CA" is one of "Windows server 2003" components, I use "VMware" and installed the OS on it.I tried to add my computer to domain through Win. server, but I couldn't(I saw some errors that I can't remind them now)!So I could install "Standalone CA" instead of "Enterprise root CA"!And now, I can't use "certificate templates(certtmpl.msc)" because I have not "Enterprise CA" on the system! Should I install the Win.server on VMware again?!Is there any solution to solve this problem?!Why didn't I be able to add my computer to the domain whereas I'm a member of our domain through my host OS(Win.XP)?!Please help me... THX in Advance.

Before anyone can help you with Certificate Services, you're going to have to resolve the problem you're having with VMware and getting the server you've installed in VMware to join your domain. I'd suggest that you first try the VMware support forums to get that problem resolved, then, if you're still having problems with Certificate Services, post back here. FWIW, when you post to the VMware support forums you're going to need to provide a lot more detail than simply stating "I saw some errors that I can't remind them now". If you can't remember the errors, no one on the VMware forums is going to be able to guess what errors you had when trying to join the domain and therefore no one over there is going to be much help to you either. Paul Adare CTO IdentIT Inc. ILM MVP Hello and thanks for your reply. I don't have any problem with VMware, but with windows server! Now, I see: http://www.photohost.biz/files/aq0c5nisz8f9x9su132.jpg As you see, I can't change the computer name and It's not possible to join to the domain again, so that's why I can't see the errors again!

Uninstall Certificate Services. Or better yet, start over again with a new virtual machine, record any errors you get when trying to join the domain and include them in your post to the VMware forums. Paul Adare CTO IdentIT Inc. ILM MVP

Hello Mr. Adare I uninstalled "certificate authority" component and then tried to join to the domain again and here is the errors I see: When I enter "amnafzar.com" in the domain field and the enter administrator username and password(defined when installing), I see: http://www.photohost.biz/files/6wwhdv1on9o9gplkl84h.jpg Afterwards, I try to join by only "amnafzar" in the domail and this time, I see: http://www.photohost.biz/files/50guopodtqyhmv3dm1a.jpg BTW, the setting of "Local Area Connection" is on "Obtain an IP address automatically"! because once I tried manual setting by my "IP,subnetmask,..." values on Win XP in Win server as below: http://www.photohost.biz/files/0v3igoja2yf49bc468qc.jpg I saw this error again: http://www.photohost.biz/files/ydesfsge2pdi5ghzzp6.jpg And here is network properties of my computer in the Win XP domain: http://www.photohost.biz/files/xvqznzy8ax0mozwjub.jpg Unfortunately, my NETWORK related knowledge is weak! I'll highly appreciate you if guide me again.

You've likely got the VMware network interface configured incorrectly for your virtual machine. You'll need, as I said, to seek help in the VMware forums. Paul Adare CTO IdentIT Inc. ILM MVP

I've already posted it on there: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/virtualmachinemgrvmware/thread/c70a44f8-29e2-4051-ae73-84527553d28d but didn't get any response yet...

That's still not the correct forum. That forum is for questions concerning the use of Microsoft's Virtual Machine Manager software to manage VMware virtual machines. Since you're not using VMM your post is not applicable to that forum. You need to post your question in the VMware support forums, not in a Microsoft support forum. When you post in the VMware forum, leave our the Certificate Services issue. What you need help with is to figure out why you can't get your virtual machine to join your domain. You need to include as much detail on that problem as you can, including how you've got the VMware networking configured for that virtual machine.
